THE PERMANENT SECRETARY AND MANAGEMENT SUPERVISORY TEAM VISIT TO OMUMA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA (LGA)

PREAMBLE

The Permanent Secretary (PS), Dr. Agiriye Harry, Directors of the Board and other supervisory team members made a scheduled visit to Omuma LGA. The aim of the visit was to carry out supportive supervision of the facilities and to assess on the spot the state of the facilities visited.

HIGHLIGHTS

The Chairman of the LGA, in his opening remarks thanked the Permanent Secretary for the visit and his assistance to the LGA with regards to healthcare delivery in Primary Health Centers and expressed satisfaction with the cordial relationship he enjoys with the Board. He further remarked that the inability of the council to fulfill its obligation in the furnishing of Umuajuloke facility was due to the paucity of funds and promised to furnish the facility immediately funds are available. He however, said that the ongoing construction at PHC OFE will soon be completed.

In his response, the PS thanked the Chairman for his warm reception and encouraged the council staff to adhere to the covid-19 prevention guidelines. 

The Permanent Secretary further stated that the need to inaugurate the Local Government Authority and the Ward Development Committee at the LGA which will enhance smooth and effective running of the PHCs in the LGA and appealed that the committees should be inaugurated as soon as possible since they will play a vital role in monitoring and supervising the activities of the facilities in the LGA. In the same vein, the PS also requested for the provision of a residential apartment for the MOH stressing that it will enhance his delivery capacity at the LGA in the area of healthcare and supervision and further pleaded with the council chairman to mobilize the entire LGA through the various arms of the local government in ensuring that proper and effective utilization of the PHC facilities in the LGA is being maintained , noting that the free delivery services initiative utilization and the covid -19 vaccination coverage was inadequate in the LGA. The PS also promised to look into the furnishing of the facility in Umuajuloke. 

In further response, the Council Chairman promised to inaugurate the LGA Authority and the Ward Development Committee in March 2022.
