INAUGURATION AND TRAININGS OF WARD DEVELOPMENT COMMITEES(WDC)

JOURNEY SO FAR

The WDC a component of the Ward Health System is a strategic thrust for delivery of Primary Health Care services. It is an effective tool or platform for delivery of services identified in the minimum health care service package and development of financial system for financing basic health care services, therefore, making such services as community based as possible.

So far, in Rivers state we have Reactivated 6 LGA Ward development committees by way of inauguration (PHALGA,ASARI-TORU,OMUMA,EMUOHA,OGU/BOLO,TAI) and 5 LGA Ward development committee have been inaugurated and trained on their roles/purpose, composition, working modalities and accountability framework of the WDC in their domicile their communities(PHALGA,ASARI-TORU,OMUMA,EMUOHA,OGU/BOLO)

Each LGA Primary Health Care Authority(PHCA) was also inaugurated alongside the WDCs. The inauguration was done by the LGA chairmen, supported by the Supervisors of Health and some prominent figures in the LGA.

PHALGA PHCA and WDC was inaugurated by Hon. Ihunda Allwell in the presence of the board team on 25th February,2022 and trained on 21st April 2022 at the Port-Harcourt City council hall

Asari-Toru PHCA and WDC

was inaugurated by Hon. Onengiyeofori George on the 28th Sept,2022 at Asari-Toru council hall and trained on the same day

Tai PHCA and WDC

was inaugurated by Chief Sir (Hon) Mbakpone Friday Okpe on the 11th October,2022 at the LGA headquarters. Yet to be trained.

Omuma PHCA and WDC

was inaugurated by Hon. Nwaiwu Chisorem on the 19th Sept,2022 at the Omuma Council Hall Eberi and trained on the same day.

Emuoha PHCA and WDC

was inaugurated by Hon. Lloyd Chidi during the commissioning of the council health clinic on the 15th July,2022 and trained on 5th October,2022

Dr. Joy T.Wihioka  giving her lecture during the training of the WDC at Omuma LGA held 19th Sept,2022.

Ogu/Bolo PHCA and WDC

was inaugurated by Hon. (Barr. Vincent Nemieboka) on the 18th October,2022 at the council hall
